Mad hot floor lamps

I was on a mad hunt for a sculptural modern floor lamp for a client recently, and here is the best of the bunch:

Oldie but goodie Arco has been kicking ass and taking names since 1962--it's famous for a reason. I love the simplicity of the counterweighted balance.

One with a similar concept but even more spare and restrained execution is the Mama from Ligne Roset:

No that is not a doll chair. That is the Great 1 lamp.

Or how about the Max lamp. Look how concerned and protective he looks! He's exactly like the Pixar mascot!

For a playful, poppy touch I like the Twiggy from Foscarini:

Then there's its artsy, goth cousin, Ligne Roset's Bloom lamp.

Need more of a punch of glossy black? How about the Spun lamp:

Simple, and yet striking, is the Tripode lamp, available at Comerford Hennessy:

Last but not least, Autoban's fabulous King and, fresh off the prototype line, WiredKing.

Need. King. lamp. Swoon! Otherwise, I will always love the classic Arco lamp.

The Arco is my all time favorite, but I think the Max just made my heart swell to dangerous proportions. And it's named after my Hubby...you think that would make it an easy sell? And I would LOVE to play queen to that sleek, sexy King! Amazing round-up lady!

W/V= disis...as in " designer's brew, disis da bomb!"

The whole Twiggy scene looks so dental office chic it makes me cry.

:-)

Max does look exactly like Pixar guy.

HG, who is YOUR dentist and why the hell am I not a patient? I love the idea of kicking back in a velvety Eames chair and staring out at the water while he prods around in my gums...

Interestingly, in a testament to his overall good taste but poor color sense, my father bought an Eames chair, of which he was immensely proud, when I was a teenager. It was mauve. Our cat shredded it. I was inclined to agree with the cat.

Mauve is never ok. It goes with nothing, especially not pastel blue and beige.

You are and always will be the Queen of all Lighting.

Sorry for not commenting these past few days. I forgot to update my reader with your new address.

I wondered why you were so quiet. I figured you were busy on a big project.
